Custom Development & Extension Modernization

Need something built for Joomla? New development. Existing extensions. Legacy projects brought forward.

Have a Joomla project that needs a custom extension, integration, workflow, modification, or entirely new capability? Or do you have an existing extension that needs to be updated, expanded, repaired, or modernized for today's Joomla environment?

QuantaCade provides professional custom Joomla development for projects that do not fit an off-the-shelf solution.

Tell us what you have and what you need it to become.
We'll review the project and determine the right path forward.

What can QuantaCade build?

Custom development can range from a focused modification to a complete Joomla extension. The important part is not fitting the project into a predefined product category. It is understanding the problem, defining the result, and establishing a clear scope before development begins.

Custom Joomla Development

Purpose-built components, plugins, modules, integrations, workflows, administrative tools, and other Joomla-specific solutions.

Extension Modernization

Bring an existing or legacy Joomla extension forward for current Joomla, PHP, database, browser, hosting, and integration environments.

Enhancements & New Features

Add functionality, automation, reporting, integrations, workflows, interface improvements, or other capabilities to an existing project.

QuantaCade Customization

Extend or integrate QuantaCade products when your organization needs functionality beyond the standard product configuration.

Have an extension that was left behind?

A useful Joomla extension does not necessarily need to disappear because its original developer stopped maintaining it, Joomla moved forward, PHP changed, or its architecture became dated.

If you have the necessary source code and the legal right to modify it, QuantaCade can review the extension and determine whether modernization is practical.

Some projects need targeted compatibility work. Others need substantial refactoring or a more complete rebuild. We review the actual extension before defining the work.

Compatibility Update legacy code for current Joomla, PHP, database, browser, hosting, API, or third-party requirements.
Deprecated Code Replace obsolete Joomla APIs, PHP functions, outdated patterns, and other code that prevents an older extension from moving forward.
Architecture Refactor or rebuild areas where modernization requires more than a simple compatibility patch.
Installation & Updates Modernize manifests, database installation and update scripts, package structure, update behavior, and deployment processes.
Administrator UX Improve outdated configuration screens, administrative workflows, forms, navigation, and usability.
Frontend UX Refresh customer-facing layouts, responsive behavior, accessibility, workflows, and modern Joomla integration.
Extension modernization is evaluated project by project. A legacy extension may need anything from a focused compatibility update to a substantial architectural rebuild. QuantaCade will review the available source before proposing the scope and price.

What kind of project do you have?

You do not need to arrive with a finished technical specification. Start by explaining what exists today, what you are trying to accomplish, and what needs to change.

Build Something New

You have a Joomla-specific need that is not adequately handled by an existing extension.

Modernize Existing Code

You have an older Joomla extension or custom application that still provides value but needs to be brought forward.

Expand an Existing Project

You need new functionality added to software you already use or control.

Connect Systems Together

You need Joomla, QuantaCade products, APIs, third-party platforms, or internal systems to work together.

  • Explain the problem, workflow, or capability you need.
  • Tell us whether the project is new development or involves an existing extension or website.
  • For modernization work, identify the current Joomla and PHP versions when known.
  • Mention important integrations, APIs, third-party services, or existing QuantaCade products involved.
  • Share any important timeframe, launch date, compatibility target, or business requirement.
  • If confidential information must be exchanged during discovery, QuantaCade can execute a Mutual NDA before those details are shared.

How custom development works

Custom development follows a defined project process so both QuantaCade and the client know exactly what is being built, what it costs, and what happens next.

1. Tell us what you need

Describe the project, problem, existing extension, workflow, modernization need, or capability you want to create.

2. Discovery & Quote

QuantaCade reviews the project, discusses the requirements with you, and prepares a flat-rate Custom Development Quote.

3. Agreement & Scope

The Custom Development Agreement and project-specific Statement of Work define the exact scope, deliverables, exclusions, schedule, ownership, revisions, and price.

4. Deposit & Development

A 30% deposit is paid before work begins. Development then proceeds according to the signed Statement of Work.

5. Review & Revisions

You receive appropriate staging, demonstration, or review access. Two revision rounds are normally included for changes within the agreed scope.

6. Final Payment & Delivery

The remaining 70% is due upon completion of the agreed scope and before final delivery, deployment, or transfer of final project files.

Clear scope. Flat-rate pricing.

70% before final delivery.

QuantaCade Custom Development is flat-rate project work. We do not use hourly or time-and-materials billing for custom-development projects.

The Quote and Statement of Work establish the agreed project scope and price. The standard project deposit is 30% before work begins.

After the agreed scope has been completed and the client has had a reasonable opportunity to review the work, the remaining 70% balance is due before final production delivery, deployment, or transfer of final project files.

Two revision rounds are normally included for changes that remain within the agreed scope. Material changes, new functionality, compatibility expansion, redesign, or changed requirements are handled through a written Change Order.

Changes stay controlled

Good projects evolve, but an evolving project should not become an undefined project.

If requirements materially change after the Statement of Work is signed, QuantaCade documents the additional work through a written Change Order. This keeps the original project scope, additional work, pricing, and schedule clear for everyone.

Paid Change Orders normally use the same payment structure: a 30% deposit before the changed work begins, with the remaining balance due upon completion of that work and before final delivery of the changed work.

Ownership is defined before development begins

Ownership treatment is established in the QuantaCade Custom Development Agreement and the project-specific Statement of Work.

For private custom projects, client-specific original deliverables identified as Client-owned are assigned to the Client after full payment. QuantaCade retains ownership of its pre-existing and independently developed tools, reusable technology, frameworks, routines, templates, generalized code, QuantaCade products, and other Provider Materials.

A project may also be structured as a QuantaCade Product Feature Sponsorship when the requested work is intended to become part of a QuantaCade commercial product. Sponsored product work remains QuantaCade technology and follows the applicable QuantaCade product licensing model.

What happens after delivery?

Unless the Statement of Work states otherwise, completed custom projects include a 30-day correction period for reproducible material defects that cause the delivered work to fail to perform materially as described in the accepted scope.

The correction period is not an unlimited maintenance agreement. New requirements, future Joomla or PHP changes, third-party service changes, expanded compatibility, enhancements, redesigns, or modifications made outside the agreed project may require additional work.

Payment is handled through the project delivery process. Final production delivery or transfer occurs after the remaining balance has been paid.
