How to Fix “Database Table Structure Is Not Up to Date” in Joomla
Confirm the warning in Joomla
Open System → Information → Database in Joomla Administrator and review the database status. The warning means Joomla has detected that its database schema state does not match what the installed Joomla program files expect. This commonly follows a failed, interrupted, or manually performed Joomla update.
Take a backup before repairing the schema
Create a current database backup before applying schema changes. If the warning appeared during or after a Joomla core update, take or preserve a complete site backup as well. A repair normally applies pending schema changes, so you should have a recovery point before proceeding.
Use Update Structure for normal schema mismatches
On the Database screen, use Update Structure. Joomla attempts to run database schema change scripts from administrator/components/com_admin/sql/updates that were not processed during the version update, and then checks the database again. A successful repair should end with Joomla reporting that the database table structure is up to date.
If Update Structure does not clear the warning
Do not repeatedly click the repair action without reading the result. Record the exact database error and check the server and Joomla logs. A failed schema statement can be caused by an unexpected existing column or index, damaged tables, database permissions, an unsupported database environment, or a previous manual modification.
Handle an empty or incorrect schema-tracking state carefully
Joomla documentation describes a special case where the pre-update check reports an outdated structure but the Database screen has no repair entry because the core entry in #__schemas is missing. That is an advanced recovery case. Verify the exact installed Joomla version, the files_joomla extension ID, and the latest actually installed core SQL update before changing #__schemas; never copy example IDs or version strings blindly.
Do not substitute a generic table repair for schema synchronization
MySQL or MariaDB table repair addresses certain storage-table corruption problems; it does not apply missing Joomla schema migrations. Conversely, Joomla's Update Structure applies expected Joomla schema changes but is not a universal repair for a physically damaged database table. Diagnose which problem you actually have.
Verify the site after the warning clears
Return to the Database screen and confirm the up-to-date message, then test Administrator, the frontend, user login, content editing, and any area involved in the failed update. Review logs for new database errors before starting another Joomla update.
