How to Install a Joomla Module
A Joomla module displays a smaller block of content or functionality around a page's main component output. Installing the module adds it to Joomla; you normally still need to create/configure or enable a module instance and assign where it should appear.
Install the Module Package
- Download the compatible module package from a trusted developer.
- In Joomla Administrator, open System → Install → Extensions.
- Use Upload Package File and select or drag the installable archive into the installer.
- Wait for Joomla's installation result and read any developer instructions.
Confirm the Module Is Installed
Open System → Manage → Extensions and locate the installed module if you need to verify registration. A successful install does not guarantee that a module is currently displayed on the site.
Configure the Module
Open the site's Modules screen, locate or create the appropriate module instance, configure its options, choose a template position, set its publication status, and assign it to the required menu items/pages. The exact options depend on the module.
If the Module Does Not Appear
Check that the module is enabled/published, assigned to a position that exists in the active template, assigned to the current menu item, and visible to the current access level. Also check language assignments and the module developer's dependency requirements. A module that belongs to a larger component may require that component to be installed and configured first.
If Installation Fails
Verify that the archive is a Joomla module installer for your Joomla version. Check the installer error, server upload limits, temporary-folder access, and filesystem permissions before retrying.
