How to Fix a Joomla Module Showing Old Cached Content
Confirm which module instance is rendering
Open System → Site Modules and identify the module displayed in the affected template position. Verify its title, position, menu assignment, language, access level, and published state. Sites often contain several copies of the same module type, so first prove you are editing the instance visitors actually see.
Review the module's caching setting
When a module supports Joomla caching, its Advanced options can expose Caching choices such as Use Global and No caching. Under Conservative System Cache, Use Global allows that module to participate in caching while No caching excludes it. If the module must always be fresh, use the supported No caching option.
Understand Progressive caching before changing the module
Current Joomla Programmer Documentation explains that Progressive Caching caches the modules on a page together, so individual module caching control does not work the same way as Conservative mode. If selective module freshness is required, review whether Conservative caching is a better fit for the site.
Clear the relevant Joomla cache
After changing the module or its caching setting, go to System → Maintenance → Clear Cache and remove the relevant module cache group. If full Page Cache is also enabled, clear the page cache group too because an old full-page HTML response can contain the old module output.
Check the cache lifetime
Global Configuration → System defines Cache Time in minutes. Cacheable modules can also expose a module Cache Time, which Joomla documentation describes in seconds. An unexpectedly long value can make a correctly functioning cache look broken when it is simply retaining output as configured.
Test as a logged-out visitor
Joomla's current Programmer Documentation states that its Page, Progressive, and Conservative administrator-controlled caches are not used for logged-on users. Verify the module in a guest session and use a clean request so an Administrator login or browser cache does not hide the behavior.
Look beyond Joomla if the old module remains
If Joomla cache groups are cleared and the module is configured correctly, inspect CDN, reverse-proxy, host, browser, and third-party performance caches. Also confirm a template override or custom module code is not independently caching data. Isolate one layer at a time until the old output disappears.
