How to Create Multiple Joomla Template Styles
Create several saved configurations of one installed Joomla template without duplicating its code.
Prepare the change
Open Site Template Styles, select a known-good style, duplicate it, and give the copy a purpose-based name.
Create a current backup before changing a production site's presentation and use staging when the change is substantial.
Complete the Joomla procedure
- Sign in to the Joomla Administrator.
- Change only the parameters that should differ, then use Menu Assignment when the variation belongs only on selected routes.
- Save the change and confirm Joomla reports a successful save.
Verify the result
Remember that all styles share the underlying template files, so template updates and shared CSS can affect every style. Test each variation.
Clear relevant Joomla, optimization, CDN, or browser caches only when stale output is plausible; caching will not correct a wrong assignment or file path.
Troubleshoot safely
If the expected result does not appear, confirm the exact frontend route, active template style, menu context, and any template overrides before changing unrelated settings. Revert the specific change if it causes a regression.
