How to Clear Joomla Extension Update Cache
Know which cache this clears
The Clear Cache action on System → Update → Extensions clears available extension-update information shown in that list. It is different from Joomla's general Maintenance cache clearing.
Open Extensions Update
Go to System → Update → Extensions when the stale information concerns extension update availability.
Select Clear Cache
Choose Clear Cache in the toolbar. Current Joomla 5/6 help describes it as clearing available extension-update information displayed in the listing.
Query again
Select Find Updates so Joomla queries enabled extension update sites again.
Check the result
Compare Installed and Available versions; review requirements before installing a newly discovered update.
Inspect Update Sites if needed
If the issue remains, verify the extension's source under System → Update → Update Sites. A bad URL or invalid metadata is not fixed by cache clearing.
Check restrictions
A vendor release may be filtered out by Joomla, PHP, or database requirements in its update metadata.
Use general cache tools for general cache problems
For stale frontend/template/site cache data, use Joomla's Maintenance cache tools instead of treating extension-update cache as the same cache.
