Build and Manage a QCBM File Valet Queue

The File Valet Queue is the staging list for a Copy Off-Site or Park Files job. Build it deliberately: QCBM uses the queue to create the final inventory, package, checksums, and job record.

The queue is stored in the current administrator session until it is cleared or a File Valet job completes.

Add Files and Folders

  1. Use Browse Folders, Find Large Files, or Search Files to locate eligible content.
  2. Select the intended rows.
  3. Choose Add Selected to Queue.
  4. Repeat as needed from other folders or search results.

QCBM validates each selection when it is added. Protected, missing, symbolic-link, or otherwise unavailable selections are skipped and reported.

How QCBM Consolidates the Queue

If the queue already contains a parent folder, adding a file or folder beneath that parent does not create a redundant second selection. QCBM consolidates overlapping paths so one parent selection represents its eligible descendants.

Review the Queue Summary

The queue shows each selected relative path and whether it is a file or folder. Its summary reports the number of selections, discovered files, folders, and total size.

The summary is a planning view. QCBM builds a fresh inventory with file checksums when processing starts. A selection can therefore be excluded later if it becomes protected, unreadable, missing, or otherwise ineligible.

Remove a Mistake or Start Over

Choose Remove beside a queued path to remove only that selection. Choose Clear Queue to discard the entire session queue and rebuild it.

Meet the Storage and Destination Requirements

File Valet will not start a transfer unless its Managed Private Storage is an absolute path outside the public Joomla document root. If QCBM shows Move Managed Private Storage first, use Settings → Advanced Storage Tools before proceeding.

You also need an enabled and configured Export Destination. Only usable destinations appear in the Off-site destination selector.

Name the Job and Choose a Destination

Enter a descriptive Job name, then choose an Off-site destination. The Copy Off-Site and Park Files buttons remain unavailable until both required fields are supplied.

Use names that will still make sense later in the active File Valet list, such as “Archived Training Videos” instead of a generic “Files.”

Final Review Before Starting

Check the selected paths, file/folder totals, total size, job name, and destination. For Park Files, remember that the confirmation authorizes QCBM to remove only unchanged local files after the off-site package has been fully verified.
