Copy Joomla Files Off-Site with QCBM File Valet

Copy Off-Site creates and verifies a managed File Valet package at an Export Destination while leaving the original Joomla files in place.

It is the lower-risk File Valet action when your goal is an additional remote copy rather than freeing local disk space.

Before You Start

  • Max or All Access is effective.
  • Your account has File Valet view and copy permissions.
  • Managed Private Storage is outside the public Joomla document root.
  • The queue contains only the files/folders you intend to copy.
  • An enabled, configured Export Destination is available.
  • No other backup, export, recovery, or File Valet operation is active.

Start Copy Off-Site

  1. Build and review the File Valet Queue.
  2. Enter the Job name.
  3. Choose the Off-site destination.
  4. Choose Copy Off-Site.
  5. Review the confirmation summary for job, selections, files, and total size.
  6. Choose Copy Off-Site in the confirmation dialog.

What QCBM Does During the Job

QCBM performs a fresh inventory and records SHA-256 checksums for files. A single job can contain no more than 250,000 inventory entries; split larger selections into smaller jobs.

QCBM creates a managed package with its manifest, verifies the package contents locally, calculates the package SHA-256 checksum, and uploads it to the selected destination.

Remote Verification Is More Than an Upload

After upload, QCBM retrieves the off-site package again and compares its size and SHA-256 checksum with the package it created. This proves the managed package can actually be downloaded before QCBM marks the job verified.

If verification fails, the job is not treated as a successful off-site copy. Review the failure message and destination health instead of assuming the upload alone is sufficient.

What Happens to the Local Files

For Copy Off-Site, QCBM does not remove the source files. A successful job becomes Copied Off-Site and reports that a verified off-site copy was created while local files remain in place.

You can later choose to park a verified Copied Off-Site record if you have the required Park/Delete Local permissions. QCBM verifies the remote package again before attempting local cleanup.

Verify the Result

Confirm the job appears as Copied Off-Site in File Valet and that there is no failure message. Keep the record: it is QCBM’s managed link to the remote package and the information needed for later verification, parking, retrieval, or safe deletion.
