Find Large Files and Browse Joomla Storage with QCBM File Valet

File Valet provides two ways to inspect eligible Joomla storage before building a queue: Browse Folders for path-by-path navigation and Find Large Files for a site-wide size-ranked view.

Both views apply File Valet’s protection rules before an item can be selected, so system paths and unsafe items are visibly unavailable or omitted.

Open the File Finder

  1. Open QC Backup Manager → File Valet.
  2. In 1. Find Files and Folders, choose Browse Folders or Find Large Files.
  3. Select only the files or folders you intend to manage, then choose Add Selected to Queue.

Browse Folders

Browse Folders starts at Joomla Root. Eligible folders can be opened through the breadcrumb path. Each row shows the name, file size when applicable, and modified time.

Protected entries are marked Protected and do not receive a selection checkbox. File Valet also refuses symbolic links and paths outside the Joomla site root.

Find Large Files

Find Large Files recursively scans readable, eligible files under the Joomla root and sorts the collected results from largest to smallest. This is useful when you know disk space is tight but do not yet know which content is responsible.

The current 1.5.13 scan reviews at most 50,000 file entries and displays at most 100 eligible results. A very large site can therefore contain files that are not shown in this view. Browse a known folder or use Search Files when you need a more targeted path.

Understand Eligibility

File Valet protects core Joomla directories such as administrator, components, libraries, plugins, templates, tmp, logs, and other operating areas. It also protects configuration/server-control files, QCBM recovery/package files, QCBM media/working paths, version-control directories, and configured local export destinations.

Unreadable entries are excluded during recursive scanning. A folder can also contain children that later become unavailable or protected; QCBM performs a fresh final inventory before transfer and reports what it cannot include.

Add Results to the Queue

Select one or more eligible rows and choose Add Selected to Queue. Adding a folder selects its eligible contents for the final inventory. If you add a parent folder and one of its descendants, QCBM consolidates the queue so the child is not duplicated.

Verify What You Selected

Review the File Valet Queue before starting a job. The summary shows selections, files, folders, and total size. If QCBM warns that protected, unavailable, or unreadable items will be excluded, resolve the warning or confirm that the remaining contents are what you intend to move.
