Finish Cleanup or Retry a QCBM File Valet Operation

File Valet keeps incomplete work visible instead of deleting the record when an operation stops. The correct next action depends on whether the original Copy/Park worker failed, retrieval is partial, or local retrieval succeeded but remote cleanup did not.

Do not treat Retry Last Step and Finish Cleanup as interchangeable controls: they address different File Valet states.

Use Retry Last Step for a Failed Copy or Park Worker

If the asynchronous File Valet worker stops with status Failed, the progress view and active item can offer Retry Last Step. A still-active job that has had no progress for at least two minutes can also expose a retry option.

Retry starts the worker again using the saved File Valet operation. QCBM can reuse an intact local package, recorded remote package information, and prior verification state when those saved artifacts remain valid; otherwise it rebuilds the necessary stage.

Resolve the Reason Before Retrying

Read the failure message and Technical Details first. Typical causes include another active operation, destination connectivity, missing provider authorization, insufficient private-storage space, package verification failure, or a file that changed while packaging.

Retrying repeatedly without correcting the underlying condition is unlikely to help and can make diagnosis harder.

Partial Park Is Not a Worker Retry

Partially Parked means the off-site package verified but one or more local files were changed, unavailable, protected, or could not be removed. Those files were preserved. Review the item’s details and decide whether the remaining local files should stay or be handled deliberately.

Partial or Failed Retrieval Stays Active

Partially Retrieved can result from skipped existing files or restore failures. A retrieval failure can also remain active. Use the item’s Retrieve action again after reviewing the conflict rule or fixing the reported filesystem/storage problem.

QCBM does not erase the managed record while parked content still needs attention.

Use Finish Cleanup Only for Cleanup Required

Cleanup Required means the files were successfully restored and verified locally, but QCBM could not remove the managed off-site package. Choose Finish Cleanup after restoring access to the saved destination.

Finish Cleanup deletes the remaining managed remote package, clears the File Valet entries/item records, removes the private job folder, and then removes the item from the active list.

Verify the Final State

After retrying, confirm the progress reaches a completed state such as Copied Off-Site or Parked. After retrieval/cleanup, confirm the intended local files are present and the item disappears only when QCBM has completed the applicable remote cleanup.
