Edit QCBM Plain-Text Notification Content

The plain-text body is the core editable message content for every QCBM email template. On Basic it is also the source used to generate QCBM's built-in responsive HTML message.

Pro, Max, and All Access can still keep a useful plain-text body even when using custom HTML because it remains the safest fallback and the basis of the built-in format.

Open a Template

  1. Open QC Backup Manager → Email Templates.
  2. Select Edit for the template you want to change.

Required and Optional Fields

Template title, Subject, and Plain-text body are required. Description is optional but useful for documenting when the template is sent.

QCBM refuses to save a template when title, subject, or plain-text body is blank.

Write for the Actual Event

Keep the wording specific to the notification. A failure email should tell the operator what failed and what to inspect; a success email should clearly identify the verified Backup Set; an export failure should make clear that the local backup may still be valid.

Insert Supported Tokens

Use the token buttons in the editor rather than inventing token names. Tokens can be inserted into the subject or body at the cursor and are resolved when QCBM sends or previews the template.

How Basic Uses Plain Text

When Built-in HTML from Plain Text is selected—or when custom HTML is not available—QCBM converts the plain text into a responsive white-label HTML layout. Line breaks are preserved inside the generated message detail area.

Keep Messages Scannable

  • Put the event and site name near the top.
  • Use one fact per line for backup title, status, destination, or error.
  • Avoid long prose before the actionable diagnostic detail.
  • Do not include secrets that QCBM does not need to email.

Save and Test

Select Save Email Template, then use Send Test from the template list. Confirm both the subject and rendered body are readable in a real mailbox.
