Connect OneDrive to QC Backup Manager

QCBM connects to OneDrive through a Microsoft application registration and delegated Microsoft Graph access. You supply the Application (client) ID and Client Secret Value, choose the matching Microsoft account type, register QCBM's exact Web redirect URI, authorize the account, and test the destination.

OneDrive export requires Pro, Max, or All Access. PHP cURL and OpenSSL are required on the Joomla server.

Create the Microsoft Application Registration

Create or select the Microsoft application that QCBM will use. Add delegated Microsoft Graph permissions for Files.ReadWrite and User.Read. QCBM's authorization request also includes offline access so it can refresh authorization for scheduled work.

When you create a client secret, copy the secret Value. Do not enter the Secret ID into QCBM.

Choose the Matching Microsoft Account Type

QCBM maps its account-type choices to Microsoft tenant endpoints:

  • Personal Microsoft accounts only — consumers
  • Work/school and personal Microsoft accounts — common
  • Work or school accounts only — organizations

The application registration and the QCBM selection must agree. A mismatch can prevent the intended account from completing authorization.

Register the Exact Web Redirect URI

  1. In QCBM, open Settings > Export Destinations.
  2. Add a destination and choose OneDrive.
  3. Copy the read-only Authorized redirect URI shown by QCBM.
  4. Add that exact value as a Web redirect URI in the Microsoft application registration.

The QCBM URI is a clean callback URL without a Joomla query string. Register it exactly as displayed.

Save the OneDrive Destination

  1. Enter the Microsoft Application (client) ID.
  2. Enter the Microsoft Client Secret Value.
  3. Select the Microsoft account type.
  4. Choose the OneDrive folder name. The default is QC Backup Manager.
  5. Enable the destination and optionally mark it as default.
  6. Save the destination.

QCBM encrypts the saved client secret and authorization tokens. Saving these settings does not yet authorize a Microsoft account.

Connect, Reconnect, or Disconnect

After saving, reopen the destination and choose Connect OneDrive. Complete Microsoft's authorization flow with the account that should hold QCBM exports.

Use Reconnect after rotating the secret, changing Graph permissions, changing account access, or otherwise modifying the application registration. Use Disconnect when the destination should no longer retain the saved authorization.

Test the OneDrive Destination

Click Test. QCBM obtains an access token, prepares the configured root folder, performs a temporary upload, verifies the uploaded object, removes it, and records the result.

The successful test message confirms the OneDrive connection, folder access, resumable test upload, verification, and cleanup.

Prove the Setup with a Real Backup

Manually export one completed Backup Set after the Test passes. Confirm that the Recovery Package reaches the expected OneDrive account and folder before relying on automatic Profile export.

The local Backup Set and OneDrive export are separate outcomes; a later cloud authorization problem does not automatically invalidate an already verified local recovery point.
