Set the Default QCBM Export Destination

QCBM keeps one Export Destination marked as the default. That destination is used by Export to Default and by Profile automatic export when an eligible verified Backup Set finishes.

Pro supports one off-site destination, so that destination is effectively the normal export target. Max and All Access can manage multiple destinations and still designate one of them as the default.

Set a Destination as Default

  1. Open Settings > Export Destinations.
  2. Locate the destination you want QCBM to use by default.
  3. Choose Set Default.
  4. Confirm that the row now shows the Default status.

You can also select Set as default export destination while editing a destination and then save it.

What Changes When You Set the Default

QCBM clears the default flag from the other destination rows and marks the selected destination as the single default. It does not copy credentials or move historical exports from the old destination.

Changing the default affects future default-based exports. Existing Recovery Packages already stored elsewhere remain where they are.

Where QCBM Uses the Default

  • Export to Default: sends a completed Backup Set to the current usable default destination.
  • Profile auto-export: uses QCBM's primary/default destination after a successful verified backup when automatic export is enabled.
  • Pro tier: manual backup export is limited to the default destination.

Max and All Access can additionally use Export to Other to select another enabled/configured destination for a manual export.

Default Does Not Mean Ready

The default flag alone does not make a destination usable. A real export still requires the destination to be enabled, use an active connector, have the required configuration/authorization, and pass the export engine's current checks.

For Google Drive or OneDrive, the account must be connected. For SFTP, the saved host-key fingerprint must be valid. For plain FTP, the insecure-transport acknowledgement is required.

Verify After Changing the Default

  1. Run the destination Test.
  2. Choose one completed Backup Set.
  3. Use Export to Default.
  4. Confirm that the export is recorded against the intended destination.

If Profile auto-export is enabled, use the controlled manual export first. That prevents a default-selection mistake from affecting the next scheduled backup.

If the Default Destination Is Removed

QCBM maintains a single default when destinations exist. If a default destination is deleted or archived, QCBM can select another remaining destination as the default. Review the list after lifecycle changes rather than assuming the previous default still exists.
