Revoke and Re-Pair a QCBM Receiver Device

Revoke a QCBM Receiver device when a Windows computer is retired, lost, rebuilt, no longer trusted, or needs a fresh device credential. Revocation immediately removes that credential's ability to authenticate for Receiver polling and downloads.

Re-pairing is not credential reuse. Generate a new one-time pairing code and let Receiver create a new device connection.

Identify the Paired Device

Open QC Backup Manager in Joomla Administrator and go to Settings → QCBM Receiver. Under Paired Receivers, use the Receiver name, device ID, paired time, and Last contact value to identify the Windows installation you intend to remove.

Do not revoke a different active Receiver merely because two computers use similar display names.

Revoke from Joomla

  1. Find the active device under Paired Receivers.
  2. Select Revoke.
  3. Confirm the revocation.

After revocation, that device credential is no longer accepted for Receiver poll, download, acknowledgement, or self-revoke requests. The active Paired Receivers list shows active devices, so the revoked connection is no longer presented as an active Receiver.

Remove a Connection from the Receiver PC

QCBM Receiver also provides a connection-removal action. When used normally, Receiver first asks the Joomla site to revoke that device remotely. It removes the local site connection only after the remote revoke succeeds.

If the Joomla site is permanently gone or unreachable, local-only removal may be appropriate from supported command-line maintenance, but that cannot revoke a credential on a site that still exists. Prefer normal remote revocation whenever the site is available.

Generate a Fresh Pairing Code

For a replacement or rebuilt Receiver, return to Settings → QCBM Receiver and select Generate Pairing Code. The code expires after 15 minutes and can be used once.

Open Receiver on the intended Windows computer, add the Joomla site, enter the new code, choose the destination and polling/retention options, and complete pairing.

Confirm the New Device

Check Paired Receivers again and verify that the newly paired device appears with a current paired/last-contact time. Then allow it to poll and, when practical, complete a verified Recovery Package download.

The old revoked credential should not be restored from a copied configuration as a shortcut. A fresh pairing creates a new device ID and secret and is the correct trust reset.

What Revocation Does Not Delete

Revoking a Receiver does not automatically delete Recovery Packages already stored on the Windows computer, nor does it delete QCBM Backup Sets merely because the device was revoked. Manage those copies under the appropriate local and hosting retention policies.
