Validate the Restored Joomla Site and Complete QCBM Recovery

Recovery is not complete when the files and database finish restoring. QCBM requires a final validation and cleanup sequence so you confirm the recovered Joomla site works before the standalone runner is removed.

Follow the completion steps in order. The final Close action remains unavailable until the finalized Recovery Report has been downloaded.

1. Confirm the Recovered Joomla Installation

Open both the frontend and administrator. Test more than the homepage: verify login/logout, important menu/SEF routes, templates, media, extension pages, uploads/downloads, and any workflow that depends on the recovered database.

If administrator access is normally protected by an IP rule, secret parameter, WAF, or other gate, use that normal protected access method. The runner's plain administrator link is only a convenience.

Resolve Any Needs Attention Item

If QCBM preserved a source .htaccess for cross-environment review, test routing and server behavior before marking the notice reviewed. Do not dismiss a server-control warning while redirects, SEF URLs, or protected routes are still failing.

Check I Confirmed That the Restored Frontend and Administrator Are Working

Only check the installation-confirmation box after you have actually verified both sides of Joomla. This confirmation unlocks the finalization controls; it is not a substitute for testing.

2. Disable Recovery Runner

Select Disable Recovery Runner. This blocks new recovery sessions while keeping the current authenticated finalization session available long enough to finish cleanup and obtain the required report.

Clean Up Uploaded Recovery Files

After the runner is disabled, select Clean Up Uploaded Recovery Files. QCBM removes unchanged files that came from the uploaded Recovery Package.

If a same-name file was overwritten or changed by the restored site, QCBM preserves it rather than deleting the live restored copy. The disabled runner file itself remains temporarily for final report delivery.

3. Download Recovery Report

After cleanup, select Download Recovery Report. The report records the source Backup Set, destination, recovery settings, database/file actions, validation, warnings, rollback information, cleanup results, and final outcome with secrets redacted.

Store the report with your recovery/change records. QCBM requires successful browser delivery of the finalized report before it enables Close.

4. Close

Select Close only after the report has downloaded. Close removes the final disabled qcbm-recover.php file and returns the browser to the restored frontend.

Post-Recovery Checks

  • Confirm the site remains reachable after the runner is gone.
  • Review Joomla and server logs for new errors.
  • Confirm scheduled tasks, mail, cache, sessions, and extension-specific integrations work.
  • For a moved site, verify DNS/HTTPS, cookie behavior, redirects, cron/WebCron, API callbacks, and any provider allowlists.
  • Retain the original Recovery Package and Recovery Report according to your backup policy.
