Understand the QCBM Status and Backup Health Dashboard

The QC Backup Manager Status tab is the quickest place to answer four questions: what entitlement this installation is using, which installation you are looking at, whether QCBM has verified backup coverage, and whether Joomla can discover the current QCBM package update.

Use the dashboard as a summary and diagnostic starting point. A healthy-looking count does not replace Backup History or a recovery test, but the cards help you decide where to look next.

Current Entitlement

The Current Entitlement card shows the entitlement state QCBM is actually enforcing on this installation. It includes Status, Base tier, Effective tier, Verification, the normalized Domain, Access until, Last checked, and Next automatic check.

If a 30-Day Max Preview is active, the card also shows when it ends. If QCBM is temporarily using communication grace after a previously confirmed paid entitlement, the grace end is displayed as well. A saved legacy key is shown only when an older installation still has one.

Administrators with the settings permission can use Refresh Entitlement or open Manage Authorized Domains directly from this card.

Entitlement Automation Integrity

Above the main status grid, QCBM checks the required Entitlement Revalidation task and task plugin. This automation is security-sensitive: entitlement above Basic requires exactly one published canonical task running at least hourly.

The integrity card reports plugin state, number of published canonical tasks, validation cadence, last execution, last exit code, and next execution. Treat a red or warning state as an entitlement issue even when another card still shows cached information.

Installation

The Installation card identifies the exact product context with Product code, installed Version, current Domain, and Installation UUID.

The Installation UUID is an identifier for this Joomla installation. It is useful when comparing production, staging, cloned, or migrated sites and when supplying support information. It is not a password or license key.

Backup Health

The Backup Health card summarizes QCBM's current records with counts for Backup sets, Verified sets, Profiles, and Parked files. If persistent backup jobs are currently queued or running, it also shows Active backup jobs.

Pay particular attention to the relationship between Backup sets and Verified sets. A Backup Set is not recovery-ready merely because a row exists; verification is the stronger signal. Open Backup History when you need the exact status, package, failure phase, or action for an individual set.

Extension Update

The Extension Update card shows the installed version, available version, update-site state, and last check time. It can report Update available, Update site needs attention, or No update detected.

Use Check for Updates to ask Joomla to refresh discovery. When an update is available and the administrator has Joomla Extension Manager permission, Upgrade QC Backup Manager installs the package through Joomla's updater so the component and Scheduled Task plugin advance together.

Readiness Cards Below the Dashboard

The main dashboard is followed by more focused Readiness Cards for recovery, storage, scheduler health, update delivery, large-site conditions, export destinations, and data integrity. Use those cards when a top-level metric tells you something needs investigation.

How to Read the Dashboard Practically

  • If paid controls unexpectedly lock, start with Current Entitlement and Entitlement Automation Integrity.
  • If you are unsure which copy of a site you are administering, compare Domain and Installation UUID.
  • If backups exist but recovery confidence is low, compare Backup sets with Verified sets, then open Backup History and Recovery Readiness.
  • If a release is expected but not shown, use Extension Update and Update Delivery rather than reinstalling QCBM first.
