Use Selectable Date Fields

Use a Selectable Date when the signer must choose or enter a calendar date. It is an interactive signer field, unlike Signed Date, which QCDS fills automatically from a signing event.

Selectable Date vs. Signed Date

Selectable Date is for a date the signer chooses, such as a requested start date, event date, or other document-specific date. Signed Date is an automatic read-only field tied to signing activity and should be used when the document needs the date a signature or initials action occurred.

Place and Assign the Field

  1. Open the Template draft in the visual builder.
  2. Place Selectable Date on the correct PDF page and size it so a date is readable.
  3. Give the field a clear label or accessibility name.
  4. Assign it to the signer role that must provide the date.
  5. Enable Required if that signer must supply a valid date before completing the Request.
  6. Save, Validate, and publish the Template when the rest of the layout is ready.

What the Signer Can Enter

The current signer app provides both a text entry and a calendar-picker button. The text entry accepts a normal ISO date such as 2026-09-28, and it also normalizes common month/day/year forms such as 9/28/2026 or 9-28-2026 into the stored YYYY-MM-DD value.

An impossible or incomplete date is not silently accepted. QCDS keeps that entry visibly invalid until it is corrected, and an unresolved invalid date blocks completion.

Required and Optional Behavior

A Required Selectable Date is complete only when QCDS has a valid YYYY-MM-DD value. An optional field may remain empty. The server validates the stored date format again when signer values are saved or submitted.

Completed PDF Behavior

The selected date is rendered into the authored field rectangle in the completed PDF. The value belongs to the frozen Request transaction; later Template edits do not change a Request that was already sent.

Test the Field Before Production

  1. Create a test Request from the published Template.
  2. Try the calendar picker and a manually typed date.
  3. Confirm an invalid date is rejected.
  4. If the field is Required, confirm the signer cannot complete while it is blank.
  5. Complete the test and verify the date appears correctly in the final PDF.
