Configure the Site-Wide QCDS Mail Sender Name and Email

QCDS sends mail through Joomla but can use its own site-wide Sender name and Sender email. These values control the sender identity used for QCDS invitations, reminders, completion messages, identity-verification mail, and other QCDS-delivered email.

Each field is optional. When a QCDS override is blank or invalid, QCDS falls back to the corresponding Joomla mail setting.

Open the Mail Delivery Settings

  1. Go to Components > QC Digital Signature > Settings.
  2. Find the Mail delivery section.
  3. Enter the site-wide Sender name and Sender email you want QCDS to use.
  4. Select Save Settings.

The Settings page displays the Effective sender beneath these fields so you can see the identity QCDS currently resolves. Frontend users cannot change this global identity.

How Joomla Fallback Works

The two overrides are resolved independently:

  • If Sender name is blank, QCDS uses Joomla's configured sender name; if that is also blank, it can fall back to the Joomla site name.
  • If Sender email is blank or is not a valid email address, QCDS uses Joomla's configured mailfrom address.

QCDS still uses Joomla's mail transport. Changing the visible sender identity does not replace or bypass Joomla's SMTP, PHP Mail, Sendmail, or other configured transport.

Verify the Sender Identity

  1. Sign in to the QCDS frontend with a Joomla account that has a deliverable email address.
  2. Open Email Templates.
  3. Use Send Test on a template. The current test path sends the test message to the signed-in Joomla user's email address.
  4. Confirm the received message shows the expected sender name and address.
  5. Then run one controlled end-to-end signing Request so invitation and completion mail are verified under a real workflow.

If the Test Does Not Arrive

Separate sender-identity problems from transport problems. The QCDS sender fields only choose the identity applied to Joomla's mailer. If Joomla cannot deliver mail, changing the QCDS sender name will not fix SMTP authentication, DNS, spam filtering, or receiving-server rejection.

  • Confirm Joomla itself can send mail.
  • Confirm the QCDS Sender email is syntactically valid.
  • Check whether the receiving system rejected or quarantined the message.
  • If the test succeeds but a specific Request message does not, troubleshoot that Request/delivery path separately.

Operational Recommendation

Use a sender address that your domain is authorized to send and that can receive replies or delivery notices where appropriate. After changing Joomla's global mail configuration, repeat the QCDS Send Test so the displayed identity and actual transport are verified together.
