Create the QC Digital Signature Workspace Dashboard Menu Item

Registered users enter the QCDS frontend through a Joomla menu item of type QC Digital Signature > Workspace Dashboard. Publish that menu item at the access level that should be allowed to use QCDS, then test it with a normal user account.

In current Private / Organization Mode, the menu item's Joomla access level can also be part of first-access authorization when no QCDS user-group mappings have been configured yet.

Create the Menu Item

  1. In Joomla Administrator, open Menus and choose the site menu where users should launch QCDS.
  2. Create a new menu item.
  3. For Menu Item Type, choose QC Digital Signature > Workspace Dashboard.
  4. Enter a clear menu title such as Digital Signature or Sign Documents.
  5. Set the Joomla Access level. Use Registered if every signed-in user should be allowed by that menu, or use your site's more restrictive access level.
  6. Publish and save the menu item.

Why the Workspace Dashboard Type Matters

The QCDS package publishes a dedicated Workspace Dashboard menu-item type. Use that type instead of building a hand-written component URL. It gives Joomla a normal menu context for authenticated QCDS workspace navigation.

How Access Is Decided in Private Mode

QCDS 2.0.7 Private / Organization Mode uses one primary organization workspace and grants eligible Joomla users memberships in that workspace. Owners and authorized platform managers are eligible automatically. Active QCDS group mappings can also authorize users.

If no active QCDS group mappings exist yet, the current first-access fallback treats the Joomla menu item's access level as the administrator's authorization boundary: an authenticated user who is allowed to open that QCDS menu can be added to the primary workspace as a sender. Once active group mappings exist, those mappings become authoritative and menu access alone is no longer the complete authorization rule.

Test the Menu as a Normal User

  1. Sign out of the administrator account or use a separate browser session.
  2. Sign in with a normal Joomla user who should have access.
  3. Open the new menu item.
  4. Confirm the QCDS workspace loads instead of showing a login, authorization, provisioning, or configuration error.
  5. Return to Joomla Administrator and adjust the menu Access level or QCDS group mapping only if the user's access does not match your intended policy.

If the User Cannot Open QCDS

  • Confirm the user is signed in and not blocked in Joomla.
  • Confirm the menu item is published and its Joomla Access level includes the user.
  • If QCDS group mappings are configured, verify the user's Joomla group is mapped as intended.
  • If QCDS reports that the workspace could not be prepared, keep the reference shown in the message and give it to the site administrator/support instead of repeatedly recreating menu items.
