Install or Upgrade QC Digital Signature and Verify Version 2.0.7

Install or upgrade QC Digital Signature by giving Joomla the outer QCDS package ZIP. The 2.0.7 package installs the component together with its required user, task, webservices, privacy, and content plugins so the extension stays version-aligned.

For an upgrade, install the newer package over the existing QCDS installation. Do not uninstall first simply to update the product.

Before Installing or Upgrading

  • Take a current site/database backup before changing a production Joomla extension.
  • Confirm the server meets the current QCDS requirements, especially PHP 8.3+, working Joomla mail, and writable Managed Private Storage outside the webroot.
  • If you are upgrading, record the current QCDS Status state so you can compare it after installation.

Install QCDS 2.0.7

  1. Sign in to Joomla Administrator.
  2. Open System > Install > Extensions.
  3. Upload the outer QC Digital Signature package ZIP for version 2.0.7.
  4. Wait for Joomla to report that package installation completed successfully.
  5. Open Components > QC Digital Signature.
  6. Open Status and confirm Installed version is 2.0.7.

Upgrade an Existing Installation

QCDS uses Joomla's normal package upgrade method. Install the 2.0.7 package over the existing installation so Joomla runs the package/component update path and keeps the extension-owned data/configuration in place.

Do not unpack the outer installer and manually install only the component. The current package also owns the QCDS user, task, webservices, privacy, and content plugins. Installing mismatched pieces can leave automation or integration checks unhealthy.

Verify the Installed Package

After installation, use the QCDS Status page as the first verification point. Confirm the installed product/version is correct and resolve any extension-maintenance, storage, or entitlement warning before production use.

If you need to inspect Joomla directly, System > Manage > Extensions should show the QC Digital Signature component and its companion plugins. The current 2.0.7 package includes companion plugins in the User, Task, Web Services, Privacy, and Content groups.

Verify Authorized-Domain Entitlement

Current QCDS uses QuantaCade Authorized Domains for normal entitlement. A new installation does not need a legacy license key. Open Status and verify the installation can resolve its current entitlement/domain state.

The one-time 30-Day Max Preview is not silently consumed by ordinary administrator use in the current 2.0.7 code. If the installation is eligible and you want to use it, start it deliberately from the available preview control after entitlement/task health is ready.

Do Not Uninstall Just to Upgrade

An uninstall-first workflow is unnecessary for a normal upgrade and introduces avoidable risk to extension-owned configuration, database state, and integration records. If an installation is damaged, preserve a backup and the Status evidence first, then repair by installing the current package over the existing installation unless QuantaCade support specifically directs a different recovery path.

Final Verification

  • Status shows QC Digital Signature version 2.0.7.
  • No unresolved package/plugin maintenance warning remains.
  • Managed Private Storage is ready.
  • Entitlement/Authorized Domain state is understandable and current.
  • A registered test user can open the published QCDS frontend menu item before you invite real signers.
