Keep QC Digital Signature Updated Through Joomla

QC Digital Signature 2.0.7 uses Joomla's normal extension-update system. The QCDS Status tab shows the installed version, any detected newer version, update-site state, and the time of the last QCDS update check.

Use Joomla's updater rather than replacing QCDS files manually. A normal package update keeps Joomla in control of the component and companion plugins and lets the QCDS installer run its required upgrade work.

Before Updating

  1. Create a current Joomla/site backup that includes the database.
  2. Go to Components > QC Digital Signature > Status and note the installed version, Current Entitlement state, and any task-integrity warning.
  3. Make sure the administrator performing the update has Joomla Extension Manager permission.

Check for a QCDS Update

On the Status tab, find the Extension Update card. It reports:

  • Installed version
  • Available version
  • Update site state
  • Last checked

Select Check for Updates. QCDS hands update discovery to Joomla's Extension Update model and refreshes the Status result. The QCDS 2.0.7 package registers the QuantaCade update server for product code qc-digital-signature.

Install the Update

If Joomla detects a newer QCDS package and your account has Extension Manager permission, the Status tab displays Upgrade QC Digital Signature. Use that button to install through Joomla's updater.

Do not copy component files over the installation manually. QCDS is a package containing the component and required companion plugins, and the package installer also performs database/schema and provisioning work during upgrades.

Verify the Update

  1. Return to Components > QC Digital Signature > Status.
  2. Confirm Installed version now shows the version you installed.
  3. Confirm Current Entitlement still resolves to the expected domain and Base/Effective tier.
  4. Resolve any new Entitlement Automation or Automatic Reminder integrity warning before relying on automated work.
  5. Run Check for Updates again if you want Joomla to refresh the available-version result.
  6. Open the QCDS frontend and verify one representative page such as Dashboard or Requests.

What an Update Should Not Overwrite

QCDS upgrade logic is deliberately conservative with saved language configuration. Global backend/frontend language defaults are initialized only when missing or blank, and a workspace language that already contains a nonblank value is not replaced merely because the extension was updated.

Other persisted QCDS data is upgraded through the package's normal schema and installer path rather than by rebuilding the installation from scratch. Keep the backup until you have verified the updated frontend and scheduled-task health.

If the Update Site Is Missing or Disabled

The Status card distinguishes Enabled, Disabled, and Not registered update-site states. If update discovery fails, first review Joomla's own System > Update > Extensions information. If the QCDS package/update-site registration is damaged, reinstalling the current QCDS package is safer than inventing a manual update URL or editing database rows.
