Schedule a QCDR Rule or Token for a Start and End Time
Pro, Max, and All Access can limit a Rule or Token to a specific date/time range. QCDR stores the boundary in UTC but lets you enter it in the timezone that makes sense for the campaign or site.
Choose the Range Schedule
- Open the Rule or Token in Joomla Administrator.
- In When should it run?, set Schedule to Start and/or end date and time.
- Choose the Timezone that should control the entered boundary.
- Enter a start, an end, or both.
- Save the item and test the real frontend request that should be affected.
Start and End Boundaries
The start is inclusive: before that instant the item is ineligible, and at or after the start it may run if its other gates pass. The end is exclusive: once the current time reaches the end, the item is no longer eligible.
You may leave either boundary empty. A start without an end means “from this point forward.” An end without a start means “until this point.” When both are supplied, QCDR requires the end to be later than the start.
Timezone Handling
The editor converts the local date/time you enter in the selected timezone to UTC for storage. At runtime QCDR compares the request against those UTC boundaries. This keeps one saved schedule unambiguous while still letting administrators work in a familiar regional timezone.
If daylight-saving rules matter, choose the appropriate named timezone rather than mentally converting the campaign time to UTC yourself.
Scheduling Is Only One Eligibility Gate
Being inside the time range does not force the item to run. State, Effective tier, page/menu/URL scope, extension targeting, audience, IP rules, technical conditions, Token dependencies, and the relevant Live Processing switch still apply.
Verify Before Production
For a Rule, private Preview & Rule Health can help verify whether the saved schedule gate passes for the test request. For either object type, confirm the actual frontend output after saving. If the output varies by time or visitor, also account for Joomla, reverse-proxy, and CDN caching.
