Enable, Block, Unblock, or Activate a User from the Frontend

QCFUM’s frontend account-status control can disable/block, enable/unblock, or activate an eligible Joomla user through Joomla’s User API. These operations are available only when the administrator enables status changes and the target remains editable and non-protected.

The three choices are not identical: Enable / Unblock changes only Joomla’s block flag, while Activate / Clear activation also clears the activation token/state.

Disable / Block

Disable / Block sets Joomla block = 1. The Users row then reports the account as Disabled/Blocked. QCFUM does not delete the user or remove groups.

Enable / Unblock

Enable / Unblock sets block = 0. It does not clear a non-empty activation value. A user can therefore be unblocked yet still show Activation Pending until activation is cleared through the appropriate workflow.

Activate / Clear Activation

Activate / Clear activation sets block = 0 and clears Joomla’s activation value. Use this when the intended result is both unblocked and no longer activation-pending.

Status Labels in the Users Tab

QCFUM labels a row Disabled when block=1. If the account is not blocked but still has an activation value, the row shows Activation Pending. Otherwise it shows Enabled.

Notification and Verification

After Joomla saves the status, QCFUM attempts the frontend_manager_status_notice email with the resulting status message and records an audit event. Email delivery is separate from the Joomla state change, so verify the expanded account state after the action rather than relying on mail delivery alone.
