Keep QC Frontend User Manager Updated Through Joomla
QCFUM 2.0.4 uses Joomla’s protected extension-update workflow. The QCFUM package owns a product-specific update site, and the Administrator Status tab can run Joomla update discovery and hand an available package to Joomla’s Extension Manager for installation.
Current QCFUM entitlement is keyless; the package update site is not based on customers pasting a current download key into QCFUM.
Check for an Update
- Take a current restorable site backup.
- Open Components > QC Frontend User Manager > Status.
- Find Extension Update.
- Review Installed version, Available version, Update site, and Last checked.
- Select Check for Updates.
That action uses Joomla’s Installer Update model to purge stale discovery data and run update discovery. It requires Joomla core.manage permission for com_installer. If discovery cannot run, QCFUM directs you to System > Update > Extensions for Joomla’s updater details.
Install an Available Package
When Joomla has registered a newer QCFUM package and the administrator has Extension Manager permission, Status provides Upgrade QC Frontend User Manager. The action is handed to Joomla’s protected update installer; QCFUM does not replace Joomla’s package-install security model.
Use the Package as the Update Unit
The QCFUM outer package is declared with Joomla’s method="upgrade" and contains the component plus the QC Frontend User Manager Scheduled Tasks plugin. Install/update the outer package so both members remain aligned. Do not uninstall the current version as a normal upgrade step.
What Installation Repair Does
During update, the component performs forward-only database/schema repair before Joomla replays ordered updates, then verifies the canonical schema and runtime files after installation. The package verifies that the component and Scheduled Tasks plugin are registered, and it refreshes the canonical QCFUM update-site metadata.
Post-Update Verification
- Return to Status and confirm the installed Version.
- Confirm Entitlement Automation Integrity is healthy.
- Confirm Scheduled Automation is in the state your workflows require.
- Refresh Entitlement if the tier state needs to be rechecked.
- Open the unified frontend Dashboard with a representative non-Super-User staff account.
- Run one safe onboarding smoke test and confirm Tracker/Recent Users records behave normally.
If the Update Site Is Missing or Disabled
Run Check for Updates first so QCFUM can resynchronize the package’s canonical update-site metadata. If files or package members are actually missing, install the current outer package over the existing installation rather than deleting QCFUM data.
