QC Frontend User Manager Requirements Before Installation
Before installing QCFUM, make sure the Joomla site can support the services QCFUM actually uses: normal Joomla extension installation, Joomla mail delivery, outbound HTTPS to QuantaCade for entitlement/update checks, Joomla Scheduled Tasks, and writable QCFUM media storage.
QCFUM 2.0.4 does not declare a separate PHP or Joomla minimum inside its package manifest. Keep the site on a currently supported Joomla/PHP combination and verify the site itself is healthy before adding or upgrading user-management automation.
Back Up the Site First
Take a current, restorable Joomla backup before a first production install or major QCFUM upgrade. QCFUM changes database tables, installs a component and task plugin, and participates in user-account workflows; a backup gives you a clean recovery point if the site's existing database or extension state is already damaged.
Confirm Joomla Extension and User Management Health
- Joomla can install or update normal package extensions without database-structure errors.
- The Joomla Users system works normally and the administrator account you will use can install extensions and manage the component.
- The intended frontend staff groups and destination user groups already exist or can be created safely.
Verify Mail Before You Test Invitations
QCFUM uses Joomla's configured mailer for invitation, onboarding, approval, retry, and administrative email. Test Joomla mail independently first. If Joomla cannot send mail, QCFUM cannot make the underlying transport reliable by itself.
Allow Outbound HTTPS
Current paid entitlement is Authorized-Domain based and QCFUM also uses the QuantaCade update service. The server must be able to make outbound HTTPS requests to the official QuantaCade endpoints. Firewall, DNS, TLS, or hosting restrictions can prevent validation even when the component itself is installed correctly.
Make Joomla Scheduled Tasks Operational
The QCFUM task plugin provides two task types: Scheduled Automation and Entitlement Revalidation. Joomla still owns the scheduler runner. QCFUM does not enable Joomla's global Scheduler Runner or change the site's global Lazy Scheduler setting for you.
Paid or preview entitlement above Basic requires a healthy, unique, published Entitlement Revalidation task scheduled at least hourly. Scheduled Automation is a separate task with a different purpose.
Check Writable QCFUM Media Storage
Joomla must be able to write QCFUM media files. Current entitlement verification can use a short-lived proof under media/com_qcfrontendusermanager/quantacade-verification/. If the web server cannot create or update files under the component's media area, fix filesystem ownership/permissions before relying on paid entitlement.
