What QC Frontend User Manager Does and How Its User-Onboarding Workflows Fit Together

QC Frontend User Manager (QCFUM) lets trusted Joomla users onboard and, where permitted, manage Joomla accounts from the frontend without giving those staff members normal Administrator access. Joomla still owns the real user accounts and group memberships; QCFUM supplies the controlled workflow, permissions, tracking, email, approval, and automation around them.

QCFUM 2.0.4 brings the current frontend workflows together in one unified dashboard. What a manager sees depends on Joomla ACL, the site configuration, and the current QCFUM Effective tier.

The Main QCFUM Workflows

WorkflowPurposeAvailability
Direct CreateCreate a Joomla user from an approved User Type Profile.Basic and higher
Invite LinksSend a controlled link so the recipient can finish account setup.Basic and higher
CSV ImportPreview and commit multiple onboarding rows from CSV.Pro and higher
Join CodesUse a reusable code tied to an Invite Pack and Profile.Max / All Access
Recent Users / TrackerReview users created through QCFUM and onboarding activity.Basic and higher, subject to ACL
Approval QueueReview onboarding that requires administrator approval.Pro and higher when enabled
Frontend User ManagerManage eligible existing Joomla users and use bulk actions.Max / All Access

Profiles and Invite Packs Make the Workflows Repeatable

A User Type Profile defines approved onboarding choices such as destination Joomla groups and related behavior. An Invite Pack builds on a Profile for reusable invitation behavior. These records make it possible for a frontend manager to choose an administrator-approved workflow instead of deciding raw Joomla permissions for every new account.

Use the Unified Dashboard

New menu items should use the current QCFUM Dashboard menu type. Depending on permissions and tier, the dashboard can expose Users, Create User, Invitations, Import, Recent Users, Tracker, and Approval Queue. Older individual frontend routes remain for compatibility, but they are not the preferred design for new sites.

QCFUM Is Not a Joomla ACL Bypass

Frontend controls are only one layer. QCFUM rechecks the acting user's Joomla/QCFUM permissions, the current entitlement, the selected Profile or Pack, destination-group rules, and protected-user safeguards on the server. Super Users and equivalent administrative-capability accounts remain protected even if a frontend configuration is too permissive.

A Practical Starting Order

  1. Create a safe User Type Profile for a non-administrative Joomla group.
  2. Test Direct Create with the exact frontend staff group that will use QCFUM.
  3. Test one Invite Link and confirm delivery and completion.
  4. Check Recent Users and Tracker so you know where operational history appears.
  5. Add Pro or Max workflows only after the Basic path behaves correctly.

What Success Looks Like

The created Joomla account has only the intended direct group memberships, the frontend manager can perform only the actions you delegated, protected users remain protected, and QCFUM records clearly show how the account entered the system.
