Use the QCLF Easy CSS Helper and Understand CSS Downgrade Preservation

The QCLF Easy CSS Helper is a convenience tool inside the Max/All Access CSS tab. It inserts a scoped starter rule into the same Custom CSS editor; it does not create a second stylesheet or bypass normal entitlement/save rules.

The helper is built around real QCLF frontend selectors rooted at .qclf-frontend.

Insert a Starter Rule

  1. Open QC Live Forum > CSS.
  2. Choose a Target, such as the whole frontend, headings, Browse navigation, Section/Category cards, Topic rows, Messages, composer, live experiences, Notifications, Search, Moderation, Polls, Attachments, Buttons, or form fields.
  3. Choose a Start Rule: Blank, Bold text, Text color, Font size, Center text, Background, Border, Spacing, or Hide.
  4. Select Insert Rule. QCLF inserts a commented, ready-to-edit rule at the current editor selection. Use Copy Selector when you only want the selector.
  5. Edit the generated declarations, save Custom CSS, and test the affected frontend surfaces.

The Helper Does Not Auto-Save

Insert Rule changes the textarea in the browser and updates the byte counter, but the rule is not durable until Save Custom CSS succeeds. A Blank starter deliberately leaves an empty declaration area so you can enter your own rule.

Text Starters Can Target Descendants

For Bold, Text color, Font size, and Center text, the helper expands the chosen selector to the selected elements plus their descendants so common child text inherits the starter override. Other starters target the selected surface directly.

Stable Scope and Legacy Repair

The accepted stable wrapper is .qclf-frontend. QCLF’s update SQL also migrates old Easy CSS Helper rules that targeted the obsolete .qc-product-frontend selector to the current wrapper. The older .qcforum-frontend class remains present for backward-compatible authored rules, but new helper rules use .qclf-frontend.

Downgrade Preservation

Easy CSS Helper output is just saved Custom CSS. If Effective tier later drops below Max, QCLF preserves the rules but stops applying them. Returning to Max/All Access restores access to the same saved stylesheet; no helper-generated rules need to be recreated.
