Create the QC Live Forum Frontend Menu Item

QC Live Forum provides one Joomla frontend menu-item layout named QC Live Forum. Publish that menu item at the Joomla access level appropriate for the audience that should be able to reach the forum shell.

The menu access level controls who can reach the route; QCLF still performs its own Section, Category, action, moderation, and entitlement checks after the visitor enters the forum.

Create the Menu Item

  1. Open Menus in Joomla Administrator and edit the menu that should contain the forum link.
  2. Choose New.
  3. For Menu Item Type, select the QC Live Forum component and choose QC Live Forum.
  4. Enter the visible menu title you want visitors to see.
  5. Set the Joomla Access level. Use Public only if the forum shell/guest behavior should be reachable publicly; otherwise choose Registered or a custom access level.
  6. Publish and save the menu item.

Test the Route Correctly

  1. Open the new menu item from the frontend.
  2. Test with a normal account from the Joomla group that will actually use QCLF, not only with Super User.
  3. Confirm the member can see only the Sections/Categories their Joomla access and QCLF rules allow.
  4. If guest access is enabled, test signed out separately. Guest posting still requires its own QCLF Category settings and CAPTCHA.

What the Menu Item Does Not Grant

  • It does not make a visitor a moderator.
  • It does not override QCLF Section or Category access.
  • It does not bypass Category action permissions.
  • It does not enable Watch Party, Broadcast, Custom CSS, or other paid features without the required effective plan.

If the Menu Opens but Content Is Missing

Check the Joomla menu access level first, then Section/Category publication and access, then the user’s QCLF permissions and the relevant feature setting. For paid live features, also check the current Effective tier and Entitlement Revalidation health.
