What QC Live Forum Does and How the Community Workflow Fits Together

QC Live Forum 1.1.27 is a Joomla-native community system that combines durable forum discussions with Live Chat, synchronized YouTube Watch Parties, and one-host Live Broadcasts.

The important design rule is that live activity is attached to a normal Topic. When a live session ends, its conversation can be converted into permanent forum Messages so the useful history remains searchable instead of disappearing with the live room.

The Community Model

QCLF organizes the forum as Sections → Categories → Topics → Messages. Sections and Categories provide structure and access rules. Topics are the durable conversation pages. Permanent Messages are stored forum replies. Live sessions add temporary live Messages while the Topic is active, then the archive process converts eligible live Messages into permanent history.

Traditional Discussion Topics and Live Chat are available at the Basic tier. Watch Party requires Max or All Access. Live Broadcast requires Pro, Max, or All Access.

What Joomla Still Owns

  • Joomla users, groups, access levels, sessions, mail transport, CAPTCHA providers, extension installation, and Scheduled Tasks remain Joomla responsibilities.
  • QCLF adds forum-specific permissions, Section/Category settings, moderation scope, Topic/Message state, live-session state, following, notifications, and entitlement-aware feature gates.
  • A frontend button is never the authorization boundary. QCLF rechecks the acting user, Category rules, Topic state, and feature entitlement on state-changing requests.

Administrator and Frontend Workspaces

The current Administrator tabs are About, Support, Status, Settings, Email, Sections & Categories, and CSS. Configuration, entitlement health, structure, templates, and appearance are managed there.

Daily moderation is intentionally a frontend Moderation workspace. Moderators do not need a separate backend Moderation tab to perform normal forum moderation.

Unattended Operations

QCLF registers five Joomla Scheduled Tasks: Entitlement Revalidation every 60 minutes, Live Lifecycle Reconciliation every 5 minutes, Live Archive Conversion every 5 minutes, Notification Delivery every 5 minutes, and Cleanup every 60 minutes.

Those tasks keep paid entitlement trustworthy and move live/notification maintenance forward without requiring an administrator to keep a page open.

A Typical Community Flow

  1. An administrator creates Sections and Categories and assigns Joomla access plus QCLF feature/permission rules.
  2. A member creates a Discussion or an allowed live Topic.
  3. Other members read, reply, follow the Topic, receive notifications, or join the live experience according to their access.
  4. Moderators handle reports, approvals, sanctions, locks, moves, and other scoped actions from the frontend workspace.
  5. When a live session ends, lifecycle/archive tasks finalize it and preserve eligible chat as permanent forum history.
