Who Uses QC Live Forum: Administrators, Moderators, Hosts, Members, and Guests

QC Live Forum separates Joomla site administration from day-to-day community operation. A user’s practical capabilities come from Joomla access plus QCLF permissions, Category rules, Topic state, and plan entitlement.

The labels below describe responsibilities, not automatic Joomla groups. Configure the actual Joomla groups and QCLF permissions that match your site.

Administrators

  • Install and update the QCLF package and its task plugin.
  • Manage QCLF Settings, Email, Sections & Categories, CSS, entitlement status, and Scheduled Task health.
  • Choose Joomla menu access, QCLF component permissions, global moderator groups, guest-posting settings, and live-feature configuration.
  • Use Status to confirm the Base/Effective tier and entitlement-task health before troubleshooting a missing paid feature.

Moderators

Moderators work primarily in the frontend Moderation workspace. Their scope depends on global moderator groups, Category moderator groups, Joomla access, and the specific moderation action.

Depending on configuration and state, moderation can include reviewing reports and pending guest content, applying or revoking sanctions, locking or managing Topics, and other server-authorized actions. Being able to see a Topic does not automatically grant moderation authority.

Hosts

A Host is the account that owns the active host role for a Watch Party or Live Broadcast. Watch Party Hosts control synchronized YouTube playback where that mode is enabled. Broadcast Hosts publish the one-host managed media stream.

Host controls are still entitlement- and permission-gated: Watch Party is Max/All Access; Broadcast is Pro/Max/All Access. Ordinary viewers do not receive host publishing controls.

Signed-In Members

  • Browse content their Joomla access level and QCLF Section/Category rules allow.
  • Create Discussions, Live Chats, Watch Parties, or Broadcasts only where the Category permits the action and the effective plan includes the feature.
  • Post permanent Messages, follow content, manage notification/read state, react, vote, or use other member features where enabled.
  • A successful Super User test does not prove normal-member access; always test with the same Joomla group used in production.

Guests

Guest posting is optional and disabled by default. When enabled for a Category, QCLF still requires a working Joomla CAPTCHA provider for every guest Topic or Message submission and stores the guest identity information needed for moderation/workflow.

Guests are intentionally more limited than signed-in members. Do not broaden Joomla menu access or QCLF Category rules merely to work around a guest-posting configuration problem.
