Choose and Switch Camera or Microphone During a Broadcast

The Broadcast Host uses the same QCLF Host Live device controls as Watch Party Host Live: separate camera and microphone selectors, Refresh List, camera flip, and live on/off controls.

Device selection remains browser-controlled; QCLF does not expose permanent transport credentials or bypass browser/OS media permission rules.

Choose Devices

  1. Start Host Live as the Broadcast Host.
  2. Open the Host Live device controls and select the preferred Camera and Microphone.
  3. If a device is missing, select Refresh List and review browser/OS camera or microphone permissions.
  4. Turn the camera or microphone on after choosing the intended device.
  5. Verify the Host preview and a separate viewer before continuing the event.

Switch While Live

When the Host selects another camera or microphone, QCLF updates the preferred device and reapplies the active local track with the new device options. If camera/microphone is currently Off, the choice is remembered for the next enable.

Switch Camera Quickly

When more than one camera is available, the camera-switch control cycles to the next camera and, if video is active, republishes the camera track using that selected device.

Reconnect Preserves Intended Device State

The controller remembers whether camera/microphone were intended On. After a successful room reconnect it refreshes devices, restores enabled tracks with the preferred device options, and rebuilds the Host controls/preview.
