End a Live Chat Now

The QCLF End action is authoritative: it ends a currently live session immediately instead of waiting for its planned end or grace deadline.

For standalone Live Chat, the exact Host or an authorized live moderator can perform the action. The same shared lifecycle action also underlies Watch Party and Broadcast ending.

End the Live Chat

  1. Open the active Live Chat as its Host or an authorized live moderator.
  2. Select End Live Chat and confirm the action.
  3. QCLF immediately changes the session to ending/archiving state and closes normal live participation.
  4. Reload the Topic and confirm the archived permanent history appears after conversion completes.

Server State Changes

QCLF stamps actual_end, records who ended the session, stores host_end or moderator_end as the reason, sets archive status pending, and changes the Topic live state to archiving.

No Grace Wait After Explicit End

An explicit End does not wait for effective_end or grace_deadline. Those fields describe the unattended lifecycle; a valid Host/moderator End takes control immediately.

Archive Starts Immediately

After the end state is committed, the frontend handler immediately invokes the live archive converter. If conversion completes in that request, the user sees the archived result immediately. If not, the archive remains safely pending/retryable for the scheduled archive task or a later lifecycle pass.

Moderator End Notification

When an authorized moderator—not the Host—ends the live Topic, QCLF records moderator context and emits a live-ended-by-moderator notification to the Host.
