Use QCLF Slow Mode During a Live Session

Slow Mode lets the Topic Host or an authorized live moderator raise live-message pacing for one active session without changing the saved global baseline for other sessions.

The server calculates the effective delay as the larger of the administrator baseline and the requested session Slow Mode value.

Change Slow Mode

  1. Open an active Live Chat, Watch Party, or Live Broadcast where you are the Host or an authorized live moderator.
  2. Use the Slow Mode control in the live Host/moderator controls.
  3. Choose the desired higher delay—or the Off / base option to return to the current global minimum.
  4. Select Apply and confirm participant send timing changes.

Who Can Change It

The live-session service accepts the exact Topic Host or a caller that QCLF has already authorized for live moderation. A normal participant cannot change Slow Mode by posting the form manually.

Slow Mode can be changed only while the session is in Live state.

Server-Enforced Range and Minimum

The server clamps both the requested Slow Mode and baseline to 0–300 seconds and stores max(global baseline, requested value) on the session. It logs the moderation change with the old value, new effective value, and baseline.

This means a moderator cannot use Slow Mode to weaken an administrator’s global minimum.

Session-Only Setting

Changing Slow Mode updates the current live-session row. It does not rewrite the global Delay Between User Messages setting and does not automatically change unrelated live sessions.

Participant Experience

The effective delay is returned in live-session responses and drives the same server-authoritative per-user cooldown used for normal live sends. Participants can see the send control/countdown change, but a crafted browser request still cannot send faster than the server permits.
