QCLF Scheduled Tasks: What Must Exist and Why

QC Live Forum 1.1.27 registers one Joomla Task plugin with five canonical task types. They provide unattended entitlement, live-lifecycle, archive, notification, and cleanup work while leaving Joomla in charge of actually running Scheduled Tasks.

QCLF creates the task rows, but it deliberately does not change Joomla’s global Lazy Scheduler/cron strategy.

The Five Canonical Tasks

TaskDefault cadencePurpose
QC Live Forum Entitlement Revalidation60 minutesRefresh entitlement; this cadence is security-canonical.
QC Live Forum Live Lifecycle Reconciliation5 minutesReconcile scheduled/lobby/live/grace/end and related live state.
QC Live Forum Live Archive Conversion5 minutesSafely retry conversion of ended live chat into permanent forum Messages.
QC Live Forum Notification Delivery5 minutesReconcile live notification events and deliver due notification email.
QC Live Forum Cleanup60 minutesExpire drafts/sanctions, close due polls, and purge expired Deleted Topics safely.

What Installation and Update Do

  • On a genuine first install, the QCLF Task plugin is enabled and missing task rows are created Published.
  • On update, QCLF preserves an administrator-disabled existing Task plugin instead of silently re-enabling it.
  • Existing task publication state is preserved. Duplicate rows of the same QCLF task type are disabled, keeping the lowest-ID row canonical.
  • Entitlement Revalidation is the exception on schedule: its hourly cadence is canonicalized on update/repair. The other four tasks keep a valid administrator-selected schedule.

A Task Row Is Not an Executor

The records live in Joomla’s #__scheduler_tasks table and the plugin advertises the five routines to Joomla Scheduler. QCLF does not run a private background daemon and does not modify Joomla’s global Lazy Scheduler or cron configuration. An enabled row still needs Joomla’s scheduler runner to execute it.

Check Health After Installation or Update

  1. Open Joomla System > Scheduled Tasks and confirm the five QCLF rows exist.
  2. Confirm the QCLF Task plugin is installed and enabled as intended.
  3. Check Last Execution, Next Execution, and recent exit/failure information—especially Entitlement Revalidation.
  4. Use the QCLF Status tab for entitlement-task integrity warnings and repair guidance.
