Use Sync to Host When Browser Autoplay Is Blocked
Browser autoplay policy can prevent a synchronized Watch Party viewer from immediately following a playing Host. QCLF first tries muted scripted playback, but if the browser still blocks it, the current 1.1.27 recovery path asks the viewer for one native YouTube interaction.
Source correction: QCLF 1.1.27 does not render a separate “Sync to Host” button. The synchronization behavior is automatic after the viewer presses Play on the visible YouTube player.
What QCLF Tries First
For synchronized viewers, QCLF keeps the real YouTube iframe interactive, adds autoplay permission to the iframe when needed, and mutes the player before the first scripted playback attempt. Muted autoplay is the browser-compatible first attempt, not a guarantee.
Recover When Autoplay Is Blocked
- Wait for the visible status message Press Play on the YouTube player to follow the Host.
- Press Play once on the actual YouTube player. This supplies the browser-required user gesture.
- Leave the Topic open; QCLF continues receiving the authoritative Host state and reapplies it after the gesture.
- Confirm the viewer returns to the Host item/state/position rather than treating the manual Play as independent control.
The Player Stays Usable
QCLF no longer places a shield over the synchronized viewer iframe. Volume, mute, fullscreen, and the native player remain usable. A viewer action may briefly diverge, but the next authoritative Host state pulls playback back toward the Host.
Do Not Confuse Autoplay Blocking with Sync Failure
If the browser reports autoplay blocked, QCLF retains the latest sync payload as pending state. The problem is browser playback permission, not missing server state. A genuine synchronization/feed failure instead produces the separate “Playback sync reconnecting…” status after repeated state-request failures.
