How QCMM Prevents Duplicate Charges and Duplicate Activation
QCMM treats PayPal capture as single-use evidence and keeps local payment/billing state so retries can recover safely instead of creating another charge or another active membership from the same completed transaction.
Duplicate-Charge Protection
- Capture requests use stable/idempotent request identifiers where applicable.
- QCMM records PayPal order/capture references and checks terminal capture evidence before attempting new payment work.
- If a capture response is uncertain, QCMM can re-read the PayPal order and reconcile completed capture evidence rather than blindly charging again.
Abandon and Retry
An uncaptured checkout attempt is disposable pending state. QCMM can abandon/clean an uncaptured attempt before a new order is started. Captured evidence is different: it must be reconciled/finalized, not deleted as though payment never happened.
Duplicate Activation Protection
Returning to Checkout or replaying a completed PayPal return does not authorize a second membership from the same capture. QCMM checks existing billing/subscription/payment evidence and re-verifies stored completed capture data before granting entitlement.
When a Customer Says “I Paid but It Failed”
Do not tell the customer to pay again first. Check QCMM billing/payment events and the PayPal transaction. A captured_pending_finalize or post_capture_error state means payment evidence may already exist and should be reconciled.
