Control Custom Member Area Tab Access and Audience
Custom Member Area tabs can combine Joomla access controls with QCMM membership targeting. A user must pass the tab’s Joomla access level and group rules before QCMM evaluates any optional subscriber-state and Plan rules.
Joomla Access Is Evaluated First
For a custom tab, QCMM first checks the configured Joomla view access level. If specific Joomla user groups are selected, the signed-in user must also belong to one of those authorized groups. Selecting no groups leaves the group test unrestricted.
Choose the Membership Audience
You can allow Current plan subscribers, Previous / expired subscribers, and/or Non-subscribers. Current includes active memberships and cancellation-pending-expiration memberships that have not ended. Previous includes expired, cancelled, and refunded history, plus cancellation-pending-expiration records after their end date.
Use Optional Plan Targeting Carefully
If one or more Plans are selected, QCMM considers only matching subscriptions when deciding current or previous status. If no subscriber-state boxes are checked, membership status is ignored and the optional Plan list does not restrict the tab.
Understand Non-Subscriber Matching
For the selected Plan scope, Non-subscribers means the user has no matching current membership. A user can therefore have historical membership records and still qualify as a non-subscriber when there is no current matching membership.
Verify with Real Test Accounts
- Save and publish the custom tab.
- Test a current member of a targeted Plan.
- Test an expired or cancelled member if previous subscribers are allowed.
- Test a user with no matching current membership if non-subscribers are allowed.
- Also test a user who fails the Joomla access level or group rule; the tab should remain unavailable.
