Protect Joomla Groups from QCMM Lifecycle Removal
Protected Joomla User Groups are an explicit safety boundary. QCMM filters these groups out of its automatic lifecycle add/remove operations so sensitive or shared Joomla access is not accidentally managed as membership-only access.
Configure the Protected List
- Open QCMM Settings.
- Find Tax and Membership Lifecycle.
- Under Protected Joomla user groups, select every group QCMM must never automatically add or remove.
- Save Settings.
The current default protection list resolves to Joomla group IDs 1, 7, and 8 when no usable custom setting exists, but administrators should verify the actual groups on their site rather than relying on numeric assumptions.
Where Protection Applies
QCMM applies the protected-group filter when lifecycle code assigns or removes Plan groups. This covers activation, expiration, cancellation cleanup, renewal transitions, and Plan-change reconciliation.
Protection Is Not a Plan Assignment
Marking a group protected does not grant it to a customer. It means QCMM will leave that group alone. Manage protected groups through Joomla or the system that owns them.
Use Protection for Shared or Privileged Groups
Protect groups that have responsibilities outside QCMM, especially administrative, site-management, integration, or shared-access groups. A Plan can still reference ordinary membership groups while protected groups remain outside automatic lifecycle control.
Verify Before Production Use
Test activation and expiration with a non-privileged account. Confirm ordinary Plan groups change as intended while every protected group remains untouched.
