Move Files or Folders to Another QCSB Destination

This article shows how to move items only after QCSB verifies the destination and creates Recovery protection for the source; source deletion occurs after successful destination verification.

What you need to know

  • Copy/Move authorization is directional: QCSB checks the source-side permission and the destination-side permission independently.
  • Move is destructive only after the destination has been written and verified; the source is Recovery-protected before removal.

How to do it

  1. Select one or more source items and click Move to….
  2. Choose an authorized destination connection/folder and the conflict policy.
  3. Confirm the move. QCSB protects the source before destructive removal, writes the destination, and verifies the destination first.
  4. Only after destination verification succeeds does QCSB remove the source.
  5. If the operation becomes a durable/background job, monitor it in Transfers and verify the final state before assuming the source is gone.

Verify the result

  • The provider reflects the intended final file/folder state.
  • The QCSB result reaches the expected outcome without an unresolved sanitized error.
  • The required Recovery protection exists before destructive provider content is removed.

Important limits and mistakes to avoid

  • Do not bypass failed recovery protection to force a destructive action. The block is intentional safety behavior.

Troubleshooting

  • If a file action fails, retry with one small test item and read Transfer Details or the operation toast before changing global settings.
