Rename a File or Folder in QCSB

This article shows how to rename exactly one selected item when permitted, keep the item inside the same authorized root, and understand provider naming restrictions and conflict behavior.

How to do it

1. Select exactly one file or folder.
2. Click Rename.
3. Enter the new safe name and confirm.
4. Verify the item appears under the new name in the same authorized location.
5. If the item is a folder and the connection is root-only, QCSB can reject folder operations that would imply subdirectory access not allowed by the administrator.

Verify the result

• The provider reflects the intended final file/folder state.
• The QCSB result reaches the expected outcome without an unresolved sanitized error.

Troubleshooting

• If a file action fails, retry with one small test item and read Transfer Details or the operation toast before changing global settings.
