Retry Failed QCSB Transfer Items Without Repeating Successful Work

This article shows how to retry failed/warning/cancelled work while QCSB preserves successful items and rechecks the current user/context rather than blindly replaying the entire original operation.

What you need to know

• QCSB uses durable jobs but follows an immediate-first model: the request attempts ordinary work immediately, and only unfinished work remains for continuation.
• Pro/Max/All Access can use the 5-minute Transfer Continuation task. The worker rechecks the original user’s current authority before contacting a provider.

How to do it

1. Open Transfers and select a job in a failed, completed-with-warnings/partial, or cancelled state.
2. Open Details and correct the underlying cause first.
3. Click Retry failed items.
4. QCSB resets failed/cancelled items for another attempt and does not intentionally repeat already completed items.
5. Monitor the job until it completes or produces a new actionable error.

Verify the result

• The durable job reaches the expected terminal state: completed, completed with warnings, failed, or cancelled.
• Successful items remain successful; failed/retried items report their own sanitized outcome.
• For a Move, the source is removed only after the destination is verified and the source has required Recovery protection.
