Understand the QCSB Maximum Upload Setting and Host / Provider Limits
This article explains the administrator upload ceiling (512 MB default in current source), and why PHP/web-server/provider limits may impose a lower practical maximum without being a QCSB plan quota.
What you need to know
- Basic includes Local storage and the first active Workspace. Pro adds FTP/SFTP, multiple Workspaces, advanced permissions, and background continuation. Max/All Access adds Google Drive, OneDrive, Private Connections, Recovery Vault management, and bulk operations.
- A plan gate decides whether a feature exists at the current Effective tier. Joomla access and QCSB permission rules separately decide whether a particular user may use that feature.
How the limits combine

| PHP/web-server limit | The effective request/upload ceiling can be lower than the QCSB setting. QCSB cannot make PHP, the web server, proxy, or hosting platform accept a request they reject first. |
| Provider capability/quota | The destination provider can impose its own file-size, quota, naming, or API limits after the request reaches QCSB. |
| Browser/request reliability | Very large browser uploads can also be affected by timeouts/network conditions; changing the QCSB number alone is not proof the full path supports that size. |
Troubleshoot a size failure
- Confirm the file is below the QCSB setting.
- Check PHP/web-server/proxy upload/request limits on the host.
- Check free storage/provider quota and provider-specific maximums.
- Retry a small file to separate a general connection failure from a size-limit failure.
Verify the result
- The provider reflects the intended final file/folder state.
- The QCSB result reaches the expected outcome without an unresolved sanitized error.
Troubleshooting
- If a file action fails, retry with one small test item and read Transfer Details or the operation toast before changing global settings.
