Customize My Private Storage Heading and Description Text

This article shows how to customize the personal-storage dashboard heading/description and styles without changing private-connection ownership or authorization.

What you need to know

  • My Private Storage requires Max/All Access and supports user-owned FTP, SFTP, Google Drive, and OneDrive connections. Local storage remains administrator-created only.
  • Private connection ownership is enforced server-side. Private connections cannot be inserted into administrator shared Workspaces even if request/database values are manipulated.
  • Frontend Text has two current scopes: Shared Workspaces and My Private Storage. Blank content fields preserve the Workspace/private default text while styling can still apply.

How to do it

  1. Open Components → QC Storage Bridge → Frontend Text.
  2. Choose the My Private Storage scope.
  3. Set the personal-storage dashboard heading/description and the supported text styling fields.
  4. Leave blank content fields blank when QCSB’s normal private-storage wording should remain in place.
  5. Save and open the My Private Storage frontend as a normal eligible user; confirm only presentation changed and private connection ownership/authorization is unchanged.

Verify the result

  • The owner can see/use the private connection.
  • Another normal Joomla user cannot see or use that owner’s private connection.
  • Private connections do not appear as selectable connections in administrator shared Workspaces.

Important limits and mistakes to avoid

  • Do not copy administrator or another user’s provider credentials into a private connection as a shortcut; private connections are intentionally isolated.
