Focus, Split, and Multi-Panel Workspace Views
This article explains the current default display behavior: a single location can open focused, multiple locations can begin split, and authorized users may work with multiple visible storage panels within administrator limits.
Display modes
| Mode | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Focus | One primary storage view fills the working area; useful when a Workspace primarily exposes one location. |
| Split/Pair | Two views can sit side-by-side at 50/50 width and are designed to stretch to equal height. |
| Multi-panel | Authorized users can add additional storage views and arrange them without changing administrator Workspace authority. |
| Destination-only | A connection may be offered as a Copy/Move destination without being kept open as a visible panel. |
Authority does not change with layout
Changing Focus/Split/Stack/Pair/panel order is a presentation preference. It does not add a Storage Connection to the Workspace, grant browse permission, or expand the exact root.
Verify the result
- An allowed normal account can open the intended Workspace.
- An account outside the allowed rules cannot use the Workspace/action.
- Connection overrides and source/destination permissions behave exactly as configured.
Important limits and mistakes to avoid
- A successful Super User test does not prove a normal Joomla group has correct Workspace access. Test with the real role.
Troubleshooting
- If an action is missing/denied, check Joomla menu access, Workspace allowed group, Workspace role, custom denies, connection override, and plan gate separately.
