Use the QCSB Workspace on Narrow Screens and Mobile Devices

This article explains responsive panel stacking and controls, practical selection/navigation behavior, and why large multi-panel transfer workflows are usually easier on a wider display.

Mobile/narrow-screen expectations

  • Panels and controls wrap/stack rather than granting a different permission model.
  • Use fewer simultaneously visible panels when horizontal space is limited.
  • Long filenames remain available through the file-row/tooltip behavior even when columns are narrow.
  • Quick forms and dialogs are designed to remain usable by touch and keyboard; Recovery Restore To uses a screen-level modal to avoid clipping.
  • Test the actual site template plus QCSB frontend together; template CSS can affect available viewport space even when QCSB itself is responsive.

How to do it

  1. Open the production File Workspace on the narrow/mobile viewport you need to support.
  2. Reduce the number of simultaneously open panels when the available width makes Pair/multi-panel work cramped; Stack/single-panel use is usually easier on a phone.
  3. Test folder navigation, selection, action menus, dialogs, and one representative upload/download with touch input.
  4. Confirm long filenames and action controls remain understandable even when columns compress or wrap.
  5. Repeat the test with the site’s real Joomla template because template-level CSS and module chrome can change the usable viewport around QCSB.

Verify the result

  • An allowed normal account can open the intended Workspace.
  • An account outside the allowed rules cannot use the Workspace/action.
  • Connection overrides and source/destination permissions behave exactly as configured.

Important limits and mistakes to avoid

  • A successful Super User test does not prove a normal Joomla group has correct Workspace access. Test with the real role.

Troubleshooting

  • If an action is missing/denied, check Joomla menu access, Workspace allowed group, Workspace role, custom denies, connection override, and plan gate separately.
