Use Multiple Panels in the My Private Storage Workspace

This article shows how to open eligible private and shared storage views, Stack or Pair them, rearrange allowed panels, and perform permitted operations using the same secure workspace mechanics.

What you need to know

  • My Private Storage requires Max/All Access and supports user-owned FTP, SFTP, Google Drive, and OneDrive connections. Local storage remains administrator-created only.
  • Private connection ownership is enforced server-side. Private connections cannot be inserted into administrator shared Workspaces even if request/database values are manipulated.

How to do it

  1. Open the My Private Storage menu item while signed in to an eligible Max/All Access account.
  2. Use Add storage view to open an eligible private connection or an authorized shared storage view.
  3. Use Stack for full-width panels or Pair for side-by-side panels where the viewport allows it.
  4. Rearrange/close allowed panels as needed, then browse each panel to the intended folder.
  5. Run a permitted copy/move only after confirming source and destination; the same server-side permissions, exact-root rules, conflict handling, and Recovery protections apply as in a shared File Workspace.

Verify the result

  • An allowed normal account can open the intended Workspace.
  • An account outside the allowed rules cannot use the Workspace/action.
  • Connection overrides and source/destination permissions behave exactly as configured.

Important limits and mistakes to avoid

  • Do not copy administrator or another user’s provider credentials into a private connection as a shortcut; private connections are intentionally isolated.
  • A successful Super User test does not prove a normal Joomla group has correct Workspace access. Test with the real role.

Troubleshooting

  • If an action is missing/denied, check Joomla menu access, Workspace allowed group, Workspace role, custom denies, connection override, and plan gate separately.
