Use the Administrator Recovery Vault

This article shows how Max/All Access administrators can review protected items, original context, user, retention, state, task health, and available actions from the administrator Recovery Vault tab.

What you need to know

  • Recovery protection is a safety boundary for destructive operations and is separate from Max/All Access Recovery Vault management. QCSB may create protected copies even when the current user cannot open the management UI.
  • Delete, replace/overwrite, and destructive move are blocked when the required protected copy cannot be created and verified.

How to do it

  1. Open Components → QC Storage Bridge → Recovery Vault. Recovery Vault management requires Max/All Access.
  2. Review each row’s item name/path, protected-from action, user, retain-until value, state, and available actions.
  3. Use Restore for the original location, Restore To… for another authorized destination, Download for a protected copy, or Purge to permanently remove the protected object.
  4. For multiple available records, use Restore Selected or Purge Selected where bulk operations are permitted.
  5. After any action, verify the destination/provider result and the updated Recovery state; audit history remains even after purge.

Verify the result

  • The Recovery item/state matches the action you performed.
  • A restored/downloaded item matches the expected content and destination.
  • Purge/cleanup does not erase the historical audit trail.

Important limits and mistakes to avoid

  • Do not bypass failed recovery protection to force a destructive action. The block is intentional safety behavior.

Troubleshooting

  • If a destructive action is blocked because recovery protection failed, repair recovery storage/capacity first; do not bypass the protection boundary.
