Update or Uninstall QCSB Without Losing Stored Data

This article explains the corrected 1.01.08 installer lifecycle: normal updates provision/repair safely, intentional uninstall skips install repair logic, and QCSB tables/configuration/protected data are preservation-first rather than destructively dropped.

What you need to know

• QCSB is preservation-first: normal upgrades install the outer package over the current installation, and downgrade/uninstall behavior does not intentionally erase stored configuration/history merely because a feature is no longer usable.

How to do it

1. For a normal update, install the newer outer QCSB package over the existing installation. Do not uninstall first.
2. Verify version, task integrity, connector readiness, and one representative Workspace after the update.
3. If you intentionally uninstall QCSB, the 1.01.08 lifecycle prevents install/update repair logic from running while Joomla removes files.
4. Treat uninstall as preservation-first for stored QCSB data/configuration unless a documented removal procedure explicitly says otherwise.
5. Before a permanent removal, keep a Joomla/database backup and separately document any private recovery-storage objects you may still need.
