Safe Error Messages, Logging, and Secret Redaction

This article explains sanitized provider errors, transfer detail safety, and what administrators should capture for diagnostics without copying credentials, tokens, private keys, or raw sensitive responses.

What QCSB redacts

  • Passwords and passphrases
  • Private keys
  • OAuth/client secrets and tokens
  • Authorization/cookie values
  • Legacy license-key values where applicable

How to use errors safely

QCSB normalizes whitespace and stores/displays a bounded sanitized error for user-facing diagnostics, transfer details, and audit/task logs. Use that sanitized message in support requests; do not supplement it with raw secret-bearing provider responses unless QuantaCade explicitly requests a secure/private diagnostic.

Troubleshooting

  • Keep passwords, OAuth secrets/tokens, private keys, and unrestricted private paths out of public screenshots and support posts.
