Create a Shared Storage Connection in QCSB

This article walks through choosing a provider, naming the connection, entering provider-specific credentials and root settings, testing access, saving the connection, and then publishing it through one or more Workspaces.

How to do it

  1. Open Components → QC Storage Bridge → Storage Connections and click New Connection.
  2. Enter a descriptive Connection name.
  3. Choose the Storage provider. Provider choice is fixed after creation; create a new connection if you later need a different provider.
  4. Enter the Exact root path. This becomes the highest reachable folder for the connection.
  5. Complete the provider-specific credentials/options and decide whether Allow access to subdirectories should be enabled.
  6. Use Test Connection before publishing the connection to users.
  7. Save the connection, then add it to one or more Workspaces. A connection by itself is not a frontend publication.

Verify the result

  • Test Connection succeeds.
  • The displayed/usable root is exactly the intended root and no parent folder is reachable.
  • A normal authorized user can perform only the operations intended for that connection/Workspace role.

Important limits and mistakes to avoid

  • Never broaden a connection root merely to work around a permission or provider error; fix the actual root/credential/hosting problem.

Troubleshooting

  • If the provider is unreachable, test the connection in Administrator before troubleshooting the Workspace UI.
  • Keep passwords, OAuth secrets/tokens, private keys, and unrestricted private paths out of public screenshots and support posts.
